Brown Sugar Cowboy Latte

Brown Sugar Cowboy Latte

Some mornings call for more than an ordinary cup of coffee.

The Brown Sugar Cowboy Latte is our take on a simple, rich latte you can make right at home. Brown sugar brings a deeper, caramel-like sweetness, while vanilla, cinnamon and just a touch of sea salt round out the flavor.

And like every good coffee drink, it starts with good coffee.

Why Burnin Daylight?

For this one, we're reaching for Burnin Daylight, our dark roast.

Its molasses, hazelnut and almond tasting notes pair naturally with the brown sugar and vanilla in this latte. It's bold enough to stand up to the milk and sweetness without getting lost.

The result is a smooth, rich drink that's a little sweeter than your everyday cup but still tastes like coffee.

Brown Sugar Cowboy Latte Recipe

Makes one latte

What You'll Need

  • 2 shots espresso made with Burnin Daylight, or about ½ cup strongly brewed Burnin Daylight

  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Small pinch of cinnamon

  • Tiny pinch of sea salt

  • 6–8 oz steamed or hot milk

Like it sweeter? Use 1½ tablespoons of brown sugar.

How to Make It

Brew 2 shots of espresso or about ½ cup of strong coffee.

While the coffee is still hot, add the brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and a tiny pinch of sea salt. Stir until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.

Steam or heat 6–8 ounces of your favorite milk.

Slowly pour the milk into the coffee mixture. If you've frothed the milk, spoon a little foam over the top.

Finish with a light sprinkle of cinnamon if you'd like.

That's it.

No complicated ingredients. No fancy coffee shop required. Just a good cup of coffee with a little something extra.

Make It Iced

Want it cold?

Make the coffee mixture the same way, allowing the brown sugar to dissolve while the coffee is hot. Let it cool for a few minutes, fill a glass with ice, pour the coffee mixture over the ice and add 6–8 ounces of cold milk.

Give it a stir and you're ready to go.

Make It Your Own

The best cup of coffee is the one you enjoy drinking.

Add a little more brown sugar if you like it sweet. Cut it back if you want the coffee to come through stronger. Add another shake of cinnamon or try a different milk.

Make it yours.

Some days start before sunrise. Some end long after dark. Either way, a good cup of coffee makes the miles in between a little better.

Wherever the day takes you, start it well.
